George Alexander Brodie founded the company in 1930 in the village of Keith in Banffshire, from their he moved on to the small village of Bridge of Orchy in Argyll and then finally on to the neighbouring village of Tyndrum in two location the second of which we are to this day.

We pride ourselves in still being a family run and owned independent trader after 70 years in business

The village of Tyndrum & Clifton of where I stay now owes its early growth to a brief gold rush in the 19th Century, though there was probably already a settlement here given its location at a junction on the drove roads from north and west to markets in central Scotland.
And it later grew further with the coming of not one but two railways & two railway stations
